Moving on from the clean, simplified approach. I retreated to my original painting style. Big brushstrokes and abstraction.

Although I was doing these a small developmental studies I think they come together rather well as a series. I prefer these results, they're stronger than the previous works. So obviously, the next step for these is to go bigger both size and quantity.
