In this first series of works I was keeping the methodology of autoethnography in my head. It felt right to start this research at my house. Thinking about artist Zarina Hashmi I liked the idea of working from a map perspective. Focusing on my street and house from a birds eye view. Selecting the colour pink was instinctive as it is a colour I feel safe in using, it has a sense of comfort which links to my concept. This feeling of familiarity has been an essential safe space for me. A retreat from the virus headlines. The shutting down of most social life has me appreciating the space and area that I live in. So I feel this series in particular rides on this idea.

For this question I will be using autoethnography as my methodology. Lockdown has highly affected my immediate surroundings. These surroundings have always been a key influence for my art thus felt necessary to document.

This virus has affected everyone so I also wanted to compare my experiences with other artists. Researching how and why their practice may have changed.

The creative goal for this project is to produce a series of work that will showcase my own geographical observations. Why the pandemic has influenced me to pursue this. Then comparing this to other artists to give context.
