The reasons behind this series goes back to Routes I. Rather than increasing the size the way I'd done for Routes II; I thought the pieces worked best when kept simplified. Again, upped to A2 paper.

I was also thinking about Josef Albers work and colour theory upon reflection. Although I've discovered myself to be a more expressive painter. His theory is why Routes I, II and VI have worked well for this research. Initially, these paintings were depicting the 'emotional' and/or 'mood maps' that Grayson Perry speaks of. Now, having a better understanding through the development of the research. I understand better how these colours work together to represent my emotional response on the walks; relaxed and content.

Finally, I felt the need to pursue this body of work as a way of moving on. I feel finished with this style as I'm now getting stuck into establishing and improving my more expressive work. To round this off nicely it felt best to do this through a completed series of artwork.

Necropolis day. 1.16pm. This time mum came with us. Lulu met a sausage dog that wasn't too pleased to see her. Necropolis was busy so Lulu didn't get off the lead as much as I would've liked. Good day. Woke up in a bad mood but this changed that. Lulu was eating lots of sticks. Stopped off at Baked on way for takeaway pizza.

*Reoccuring thought, - Debord's psychogeography theory works here. Going on the walk and submerging myself in mine and Lulu's favourite location changed my mood for the day.

Work clothes, 10.30. Before work, Lulu was really tired today, so just a small walk that took longer than usual. Weather was average. She's very lazy and usually doesn't get up until about midday. Like walking past the WASPs studios and peering in through the windows. Don't get to see much though.
